  Capacity-Building Workshop for Local Education Foundation Leaders

Similar workshops, sponsored by DIRECTV, are being scheduled forApril in west Los Angeles (April 28), and the Ventura/Santa Barbara area (April 30.)  Contact CCEF to be put on the mailing list or to reserve a place in one of the workshops.

Education Foundation Fundamentals Workshop -- May 21, Sacramento

Learn from  experts on legal, fiscal, political, fund development, programmatic, organizational, and governance issues relating to local education foundations.  Leaders from local education foundations are invited to share successes and challenges as well as participate in skill-building trainings.

Legal Issues Update:  A Basic Primer, by Ronald T. Vera, Gutierrez & Vera, LLP, provides a legal update for local education foundation leaders.  This document was presented during the annual conference.

TV program First to Worst - In the 50's and 60's California had one of the best school systems in the country. Now it has one of the worst. What happened over the course of 40 years that led to this decline? And what is California doing to raise its system back up?

CCEF will be distributing a DVD of the program plus "talking points" for local education foundations wanting to host a town hall meeting. Contact the CCEF office for availability.
